Education

The Caledon Pony Club offers an extensive Education program, geared towards furthering the children’s love of horses, and all things equine. We participate in the pony club badge program, where our members can earn badges from our special horsemanship sessions, which they proudly display on their CPC saddle pads.

Caledon’s Education program prepares members for Testing, Quiz and the summer Riding Meetings, by conducting seminars, lectures and hands-on learning opportuities throughout the year. Although the majority of seminars are conducted during the winter months, some do take place during the summer and fall.

Our winter Education sessions will often focus on preparing the children for their tests, which are normally held every spring. Basic knowledge of horse care, including seminars, visits to other facilities and clinics, rounds out the program. Every year the parents become involved in the planning process and so, each year is different, offering a wide variety of opportunities for every level in our club.

Members are divided into Senior and Junior groups, as outlined above. Some education meetings are held at the homes of members, others are outside at various farms or riding establishments. Seniors also participate in the Region program at Guelph from January – May on Sunday afternoon’s (usually the third Sunday of each month). Members must be a D2 level & planning to test to C level and at least 12 years of age to participate in Western Ontario Region (WOR) Senior Education program.
